Solar Street Lightening
Every city in the world has street lightning. Without it, life will be more complicated. But, every lamp uses energy. Because there are millions of them, they lose huge amounts of energy. There are just a few concepts that can solve this problem. One of them is uTree. The idea is to place devices anywhere they are needed. These tree-like devices require very little ground space. They are not very complicated, so their price shouldn’t be astronomic.
These devices look like trees. This is done in order to maximize the harvesting effect. Leaves are solar panels. They use a rotation engine in order to find the best position. So, they are always faced towards the sun. Each uTree can be easily dissembled because there is no complicated hardware. Every leaf has 77 solar cells. Each generate 2.5w of energy. In just 8 hours (sunny day) uTree can generate 1732.5W. This is equivalent to 5058KWH per one year. This amount of energy is enough for 20 street lights. The designer of uTree is Xabier Perez de Arenaza.
The best side of uTree and similar devices is that they are always exposed to the sunlight. This maximizes their efficiency. With uTree, there is no need for conventional street lights. They need more time to be installed, they are more expensive and their maintenance is expensive. Also, their light isn’t very bright. uTree will be useful only if every city in the world uses it. Beside it is eco-friendly, uTree will improve the city appearance. Many people would like to see these devices in their city. Even better, you can have it in front of your home.
